Julie Waters is an attorney, veteran, wife and mother of two.  After she spent twelve years on active duty in the U.S. Army, first as a Military Police officer and then as a JAG (attorney), Julie and her husband decided to make McLean their long-term home - and they continue to be thrilled with that decision.  Julie continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves as a JAG, is a board member for her community HOA, and stays home with her children during the day.

Why vote for Julie?  As a McLean Community Center Governing Board member, Julie will work hard to continue growing our wonderful community.  She has enjoyed taking classes at MCC with her two-year-old, and wants to give back to McLean by serving on the MCC Board.  Julie believes that relationships and shared experiences are the bedrock of a great community, and that MCC events, facilities, and programming can foster that.

As an Army attorney, Julie started out working as a criminal prosecutor at Fort Bragg, NC, and she ended her time on active duty as the chief of the trial defense office at Fort Sill, OK.  Those assignments taught her perseverance, leadership, and fierce advocacy.  In between, Julie worked on administrative and ethics law as the legal advisor at an Army hospital, and with the Department of the Army Inspector General's office in the Pentagon.  She is experienced in interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and ethics rules, which will be an asset to the MCC Governing Board.

Julie loves to cook, and on a typical Saturday morning, you'll find her at home making pancakes for her family (or homemade doughnuts if they're lucky).  She enjoys fitness and is a runner - there is a good chance you've seen her running through McLean's neighborhoods (often pushing a jogging stroller).  Her other favorite activities are reading, both fiction and nonfiction, and travel.

Julie can't wait to be involved with the exciting MCC renovations and with the future of our community.  She'd love to meet you - hop over to the contact page and drop her a note.  And, thank you for your support!
